As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response:  What i enjoyed the most about this class was all of the writing assignments we got to do, the project i found most engaging was when we wrote an origin myth and created a poster for it, and the aspect of the course i connected the most with was reading the short stories. A place i will need more help with next semester i making sure i complete my blog posts. Summary: We worked on our blog posts Reflection:

Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt Response:  One tradition that is important to my family is decorating for Christmas with my family every year. Every year we all get together to decorate out house with Christmas stuff. It still matters because with us getting older my whole family rarely ever hangs out so having that time to decorate brings us together to do something fun Summary: We worked on vocabulary Reflection:  I learned some new vocab words

How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt Response:  The holidays have changed as ive gotten older by changing who i spend time with during the holiday season. On thanksgiving my whole family used to come together but now its just my immediate family and I used to only trick or treat with my mom but now i spend halloween with my friends Summary: Reflection:

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response:  The best gift i ever received was my first cat Quinn, while he technically was a gift from my mom to our whole family but i had been begging for years to get a pet and i was the first person she showed Quinn too. Summary: We got introduced to our final project and worked on vocabulary Reflection:  I learned about our new vocabulary words

Reflection: I learned a lot about the culture and identity of my fellow classmates

After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

Prompt Response:  The masks in the film represent the the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are by showing how people will put up a front around people in order to fit in or seem normal instead of showing their true selves. One moment in the film that stood out to me was when a girl in the hallway took of one type of mask and change it to another one as she moves from one group of people into another, copying their style of mask in order to fit in with them just like people do with their personality. It connects to the poem by showing hoe people shouldn't be ashamed and should be accepted for who they truly are Summary: We worked on our personality masks Reflection:  I learned more about film interpretations of identity and how to show that on film.
