Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild.

Prompt Response:  A relationship that I have where i feel truly understood is a friendship ive had since freshman year. We've been consistent friends over the past 3 years and we both understand each other and respect each other in a way ive never had with someone else. Chris and Carine know that they understand one another and thats how i feel with that specific friend. Summary: We read chapter 13 and answered questions about it. Reflection:  I learned more about Carine McCandless and her grief experience after the death of her brother

Pick one of the connection based questions and answer it in your blog. Be sure to write out the question.

Prompt Response:  Question 9 - Some things that build trust in relationships are proper communication, mutual respect, and positive interaction. Somethings that can damage trust is lying, withholding problems, not respecting each other and continuous negativity in your relationship Summary: we answered some connection based questions for into the wild  Reflection:  I learned more about how to connect myself to the book im reading

Based on the first 40 minutes of the film and Chapters 1–11 of the book, does the visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified or more reckless than the text does? Explain how the medium (film vs writing) shapes your perspective.

Prompt Response:  I was not present that day Summary: I was not present that day Reflection:  I was not present that day

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:  Luminous. Im not sure exactly why I like the word so much but I think because its a much nicer way to say bright or something of that nature. While I am a nigh owl I do still enjoy light, the sunlight, led lights, or just a simple lamp always seem to bring me comfort. It reminds me of a bioluminescent jellyfish gracefully floating through dark water, a pale ghostly blue swimming alone in the dark ocean not a care in the world.  Summary: we completed lesson 10 of our vocabulary Reflection:  I learned a lot about some new vocab words I had never heard before

For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you.

Prompt Response:  My desired SAT score is one that is good for the college, my top 3 colleges are Kennesaw University, University of Missouri, NYU. KSU becuase a lot of my friends are going there and they have a good journalism program, Missouri because i have a lot family that went/goes there and they have a good journalism and theater program, and finally NYU because of their theater program Summary: we read another chapter of Into The Wild Reflection:  I learned more about Chris McCandless

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

Prompt Response:  I never have a issue adjusting to daylight savings time, the biggest inconvenience is having to change my bedside clock, my watch, and the microwave clock. Ive never had a consistent sleep schedule so even with the time change my sleep schedule isn't effected. Summary: We read chapter 6 and did a 321 assignment Reflection:  I learned more about Chris McCandless and his lone journey

In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Prompt Response:   An artist who has  influenced the way I think about life and the world around me is the Irish actor and musician Jack O Connell. I am biologically very Irish as my mom is essentially 100% Irish as all of her grandparents (aka my great grandparents) were Irish immigrants and my father is a mix of different European and Native American heritage which most includes a lot of Irish. Despite having a lot of Irish heritage i didn't grow up in Irish culture or traditions aside from the occasional traditional Irish dish, Saint Patricks day, or making fun of my red headed brother by calling him a leprechaun. Being an American I have no real "culture" so to speak so to make up for it I did a lot of learning about Ireland, its history, its culture, and its myths/legends. There are not many famous Irish people (at least not in the US) and seeing Jack be in movies portraying Irish people and singing Irish songs allowed me to connect with Irish culture in a way I hadn...

People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response:  In the middle of my 8th grade year my mental state deteriorated so much that I had to drop out of my middle school and join a more private learning system for the second system. It taught me that I couldn't survive in certain situations around people that didn't care about me. Summary: We read the second chapter of Into the Wild and answered questions Reflection:  I learned more about Chris McCandles and his Alaskan journey

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response:  No i believe that he didn't understand the risks he was taking and he didn't properly prepare for the journey into the Alaskan wilderness because despite being warned that he wasn't prepared he still stubbornly went ahead and got himself killed. Summary: we read the first chapter of Into the Wild about the death of Christopher McCandless Reflection:  I learned more about the final months of Chris McCandless's life

In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

Prompt Response:  I would keep my phone, money, a way to charge my phone, my favorite clothes/jewelry, i would keep those things as they are the most important things to me currently Summary: We read chapter 4 and answered questions about it Reflection:  I learned more about Chris McCandless

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:  The easiest word for me to understand was provocative as its a word I use in my day to day life quite often and the word i found most troubling was recrimination just because it was difficult for me to understand certain antonyms and visuals for such a specific word. Summary: we created vocab cards for our new vocabulary  Reflection:  I learned more about new vocab words
