In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Prompt Response:  An artist who has influenced the way I think about life and the world around me is the Irish actor and musician Jack O Connell. I am biologically very Irish as my mom is essentially 100% Irish as all of her grandparents (aka my great grandparents) were Irish immigrants and my father is a mix of different European and Native American heritage which most includes a lot of Irish. Despite having a lot of Irish heritage i didn't grow up in Irish culture or traditions aside from the occasional traditional Irish dish, Saint Patricks day, or making fun of my red headed brother by calling him a leprechaun. Being an American I have no real "culture" so to speak so to make up for it I did a lot of learning about Ireland, its history, its culture, and its myths/legends. There are not many famous Irish people (at least not in the US) and seeing Jack be in movies portraying Irish people and singing Irish songs allowed me to connect with Irish culture in a way I hadn't been able to before .

Summary: We read chapter 5 and answered questions

Reflection: I learned more about the journey of Chris McCandless

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.
